HOULTON – Freshman right hander Ryan Schools pitched six innings of two-hit ball, striking out 12 and walking one Friday, to pace Houlton to a 6-0 schoolboy baseball victory over Fort Fairfield.
Paul Cain pitched a scoreless seventh for Houlton and smacked a three-run double to key the Shires’ five-run second inning. Mike Lenentine singled twice.
Ryan Dorsey singled twice for Fort Fairfield.

At Deer Isle, Eric Ray’s lead-off homer triggered a four-run rally in the bottom of the fourth that snapped a 4-4 tie and sent Deer Isle-Stonington on their way to their first win of the season.
Ray had two base hits to go with his homer; Josh Bolton had a double and three base hits and Bennett Gray contributed three singles as did Daryl Dunham. Eric Robbins went the distance for the win.
Mike Cowperthwaite belted a two-run homer and also singled for Sumner while Jay Huber singled three times.

For Fort Fairfield, Danielle Searles had a double, a single and two RBIs while Kelly Stearns drove in two with two singles. Sabrina Butler added a two-run double.

At Millinocket, Nicole Davis’ sacrifice fly scored Leslie Osborne to highlight a three-run seventh-inning rally as the Minutemen beat the Patriots.
Becca Saucier singled and scored on an Osborne single and Jackie Caverly plated Jessica Jandreau (walk) with a single in the pivotal seventh inning. Jordan Legassey paced Stearns with a two-run home run, a triple and two singles and four total RBIs.
Saucier singled four times and Osborne had two singles (1 RBI) behind winner Kristina MacKenzie, who struck out nine.
Lil Gerrish tripled, doubled and singled for Penquis of Milo. Loser Megan Russell, who fanned 10, provided two singles and two RBIs. Lindsay Ouellette hit a two-run homer in the fourth.
