BRADFORD – Though a 15-year-old local boy escaped serious injury Friday after rolling his car on the Pond Road, he did not escape the legal consequences.
According to Maine State Police Trooper Gerald Pearson, the teen-ager, whose name was withheld because of his age, cut his lip when his face hit the steering wheel. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, where he received stitches before being released a few hours later.
Pearson said the youth has been summoned for driving without a license and for driving too fast for road conditions. He was ordered to appear in Newport District Court in June. The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m., when the boy apparently lost control of an older-model car on the Pond Road, which is not paved. The car left the roadway, traveled into a ditch and struck a boulder. The car then flipped once, coming to rest on its roof.
