Cleary powers Houlton past Minutemen for third victory

MILLINOCKET – Kasey Cleary nailed a triple and a single with two RBIs to lead the undefeated Houlton Shiretowners to an 18-0 schoolgirl softball victory over the Stearns Minutemen Saturday.

Danielle Hagerman ripped a three-run triple as Alyssa Foster notched two singles, two walks, and scored three runs for the Shiretowners.

Brandi Michaud and Jordan Legassey each singled for the Minutemen.

Old Town sweeps Presque Isle

At Old Town, Sarah Metivier tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine and the Indians won 13-0 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader. Old Town won 12-0 in the second game.

In the first game, Meghan King and Jessica Paul each tripled, singled and had an RBI. Mary Randall knocked in four runs on a double and a single. Jordan Wildman and Sarah Belden each hit two singles for the Wildcats.

In the second game, Mary Randall fanned eight while giving up just two hits for Old Town. Paul singled three times and drove in two runs. Metivier hit a double, a single and had two RBIs, and Missy Dorr singled twice. Wildman and Sasha O’Clair singled for Presque Isle.

At Woodland, Katie Frost struck out 10 batters in five innings and held the Dragons to just three hits in the win.

Crystal Martin rapped a double and two singles for the Blue Devils and Lanna Martin socked a home run and a double and drove in three runs.

Edwina Huwa stroked two singles and Nicki Lazzaro added a single for the Dragons. Each scored a run.

Megan Randlett notched an RBI triple while Danielle Clark ripped a double with an RBI for the Warriors of Newport.

Windham Chr. sweeps Greenville

At Windham, Danielle Pillsbury pitched both games, throwing a five-hitter and a four-hitter to lead Windham Christian Academy to 5-4 and 9-8 victories Saturday.

In the first game, Windham scored five runs in the first five innings and held on for the win.

Jessica Robbins singled twice and Lisa Moesel hit a triple to pace the Warriors.

Diane Aucoin led the way for the Lakers with a solo home run in the seventh, a double, and two singles.

In the second game, Angie Bono drove home the tying run in the seventh with a two-out single, stole second, and later scored on an error to give the Warriors the win.

For Greenville, Lauren Dallam singled twice.

Lynx roll over Penquis twice

At Lincoln, the Mattanawcook Lynx scored 42 runs in two games as they rolled over Penquis Valley in a doubleheader, 26-1 and 16-0.

Carrie Vance pitched a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and nailed a home run for the Lynx while Brandi Rideout homered and singled with two RBIs and Kyle Allen also ripped a home run.

Kristi Lee pitched for the Patriots of Milo.

In game two, Carrie Vance tallied a home run, a double, and two singles with five RBIs and gave up only one hit and struck out 12 on the mound while Kylie Allen homered and singled twice with three RBIs.

Lil Gerrish notched a single for Penquis.

Billy Romanelli’s single earlier in the inning scored Marlon Lutz and tied the game. Romanelli finished with three singles and a triple and five RBIs. David Goulet hit a triple and a single.

Chris Irish led the Vikings of Danforth with a two-run double in the top of the seventh. Darius Parker doubled and singled.

Foxcroft splits with Caribou

At Dover-Foxcroft, Foxcroft Academy and Caribou split both games of a doubleheader, Foxcroft won the first 15-5, Caribou won the second 9-6.

In game one, Ryan Taylor led Foxcroft with a home run and a triple with four RBIs while Danny White singled three times with two RBIs and Seth Gabarro ripped two singles.

Tristen Noyes singled twice for the Vikings and Travis Snell doubled win two RBIs.

In game two, Tristen Noyes tallied a home run and a single with three RBIs for the Vikings as Travis Snell also homered.

Kyle Wentworth led the Pony attack with a triple and a single with two RBIs while Chris Walker doubled with an RBI.

At Old Town, Chris Nadeau’s two-run single keyed a four-run inning as the Wildcats downed the Indians 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Philip Keirstead had two singles and two runs batted in and James Gale had a pair of singles for Presque Isle.

Chris Brissette doubled and singled and Roger Cole drove in two runs for Old Town.

In the second game, the Indians took advantage of five Presque Isle errors to earn the split 14-4.

Sean McAuley had two singles and two RBIs and John Graves singled twice for Old Town.

Gale had three singles for the Wildcats.

Nate Baker had three singles and two runs batted in while Charlie Rollins doubled and singled for Valley. Corey Hibbard had a double, single and two RBIs.
