Delano takes lead after restart, captures Dodge Dealers 100

WISCASSET – Scott Delano of Friendship surged to the lead after a lap-20 caution and restart at the New England Dodge Dealers 100 and never fell out of it as he won for the second time in two races Saturday.

The biggest win of his career netted Delano a $3,000 payoff and $4,500 in winnings the last two weeks. Delano, a two-time limited sportsman division champion at Wiscasset Raceway, took the checkered flag in his No. 21 D&T Towing/Hinkson Automotive Chevrolet.

Runnerup Peter Oakes of Boothbay also notched a career best with his finish and Bar Harbor’s John Phippen wound up third. Oakes led the race from the start to lap 20, when he went to the pits to correct a vibration problem. Defending champion Scott Chubbock of Wiscasset finished 19th after his Chevrolet left the track while billowing smoke.

There were only nine caution flags unfurled during the race. Fourth place went to Benton’s Dana Strout and fifth to Johnny Clark of Farmingdale.
