The St. Joseph’s College Monks earned their 36th and 37th wins with wins over the Thomas College Terriers, setting a school record for wins in a season and capping a four-game weekend sweep of Thomas. St. Joseph’s won 12-7 and 8-2 Sunday in baseball action in Standish, and got 13-4 and 8-5 wins Saturday in Waterville.

In game one, Lucas Hannigan notched a double and two singles with two RBIs for the Monks while Jesse LaCasse and Steve Osborne each doubled and singled.

Josh Porter ripped a home run and a single with two RBIs for the Terriers of Waterville as Buzz Simpson ripped a double and a single.

In game two, Jesse LaCasse belted a home run and a single with two RBI’s for the Monks while Steve Osborne also nailed a home run.

Scott Sibley led the Terrier attack with a double while Josh Porter singled twice.

At Waterville in Saturday’s opener, Osborne hit a two-run homer. LaCasse doubled, singled and drove in three runs. Adam Newell and Hannigan recorded two RBIs on a double and a single. Arron Tripp’s two-run triple led the Terriers.

In Saturday’s second game, Hannigan knocked in five runs on a homer, a double and a single. Seven St. Joseph’s players hit doubles. Travis Hotham had two RBIs on a double and a sacrifice fly for Thomas.

At Mansfield, Conn., Andy Lang hit five singles and drove in three runs to power the Huskies to a 15-8 win over Eastern Connecticut State in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday. The Warriors won the opener 5-4.

Colby takes two from Bates

At Lewiston, Kevin Presbrey scattered nine hits while striking out 11 and walking four in a 13-6 victory in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader. Colby took the first game 11-9.

In the opener, B.L. Lippert’s two-run single sparked a Colby rally in the seventh. Brandon Irwin homered for the Mules. In the nightcap, Bill Goldman smacked two homers for Colby and Irwin added another.

Thomas takes three from UMPI

At Presque Isle, Kristin Supa drove the game-winning RBI home in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Owls to their first win of the season in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. UM-Presque Isle won the opener 2-1, then dropped three straight to Thomas.

The Terriers won the second game Saturday 8-6, and then two Sunday games (16-4 and 6-2).

In Saturday’s first game, Supa finished with two RBIs. Sarah Currier had two hits for the Terriers.

In Saturday’s second game, Heidi Jesseman’s two-run single lifted Thomas past UMPI. In Sunday’s opener, Currier and Tracy Ayotte each tallied two RBIs for the Terriers. Carol Thibodeau had two hits for UMPI.

In Sunday’s second game, Thomas’ Courtney Corbert knocked in two runs on three hits.

Huskies split with Keene State

At Gorham, on Saturday, Keene State College and the University of Southern Maine split two games of a doubleheader, 4-2 and 10-2.

In game one, Becky Manson ripped a solo home run for the Huskies while Erica Gagnon struck out five.

In game two, Katie True’s RBI double led Southern Maine to a win.

At Gorham, Darci Holland stroked a single to score Angela Cote in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Southern Maine a 1-0 victory over the Colonials in a Sunday doubleheader. Western Connecticut State won the second game 2-0.

Husson sweeps on Sunday

At Johnson, Vt., Sunday, Husson College won both games of a doubleheader against Johnson State College, 6-5 and 6-4.

In game one, Kelly Dow struck out 13 and walked two for the Braves of Bangor. Nicole Mitchell (two singles) scored the winning run by reaching on a one-out single, going to second on an error, stealing third, and advancing home on a fielder’s choice error to cap a four-run rally in the sixth.

Sami Hibbard singled twice and Erin Weston had an RBI single for the Braves.

In the second game, Dawn Doucette led the offense with a triple, a single, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Hibbard had a single and two steals.

Mules, Monks top tourney field

At Waterville, Colby and St. Joseph’s each won two games Sunday in the Colby Invitational to finish the tournament with 3-1 records.

Colby beat Brandeis 5-4 and UM-Farmington 15-13 Sunday, while St. Joseph’s topped Brandeis 6-2 and UMF 5-2. The Monks finished in first place by virtue of having beaten Colby in a Saturday game.

Colby 5, Brandeis 4

Jess Warren laid down a suicide squeeze bunt to score Courtney Frye and lift the Mules in the eighth. Marcy Wagner added an RBI double for Colby.

St. Joseph’s 6, Brandeis 2

The Monks scored six runs in the sixth inning, including two on Deborah Bain single. Sarah Webster hurled a four-hitter.

St. Joseph’s 5, UM-Farmington 2

Kelly Premo’s two-run triple and Sue Picard’s homer sparked the Monks to a four-run second inning.

Molly Leopin singled twice for the Beavers.

Colby 15, UM-Farmington 13

The Mules and Beavers combined to pound out 34 hits, including a Marcy Wagner three-run homer for Colby. Jess Fitzgerald singled three times and drove in three runs.

UMF’s Becky Roak racked up four RBIs and Molly Leopin drove in three runs.

Brandeis 6, St. Joseph’s 4

On Saturday, Kelly Premo nailed a solo home run for the Monks. Sue Picard and Kristen Gaudette each had two hits.

St. Joseph’s Amy Lisavitch scattered six hits in the win.

Kelly Premo doubled for the Monks while Lauren Merrit ripped a single with two RBIs and Sue Picard singled with an RBI.

Carrie Morin led the White Mules with a double as Kate Dalton notched a single with an RBI.

UM-Farmington 4, Brandeis 3

UMF’s Heather Marden had a double, two singles and an RBI, and picked up the pitching win. Dawn Robertson added two runs batted in.
