DOVER-FOXCROFT – Gov. Angus King has not yet selected a replacement for the late Gordon Andrews to serve on the Piscataquis County Board of Commissioners.

Businessmen Eric Annis, owner of Lary Funeral Homes in Dover-Foxcroft and Milo, Gordon MacKinney, owner of Webber Hardware in Dover-Foxcroft, and Ruel Cross, a former state representative from Dover-Foxcroft, were recommended by the Piscataquis County Republican Committee for appointment to the position.

Because Andrews was a Republican and represented the Dover-Foxcroft and Sangerville areas, his replacement must be from the same party and be a resident of either community.

A spokesman in the governor’s office said Monday that the appointment did not appear to be an urgent matter and said that no appointment has yet been made.
