Sales tax conference to be held in Waterville

WATERVILLE – Conferences on Maine Sales and Use Taxation for Manufacturers will be held at the Best Western Waterville Inn on Main Street from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 24, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 29, at the Portland Marriott on Sable Oaks Drive in South Portland.

The program is geared for Maine manufacturers large and small but also will be useful for tax managers, accountants, business and industrial controllers, financial officers and small-business owners. The conference will focus on sales-and use-tax issues including: Maine Revenue’s New Instructional Bulletin for Manufacturers; practical tips to resolve sales- and use-tax issues; money-saving exemptions; sales- and use-tax planning strategies; significant court decisions; and the bureau’s view on various issues.
