GREENE – A warden spotter in a National Guard helicopter located a 75-year-old man who wandered into the woods near his home, officials said Tuesday.
Rosaire Corriveau, 75, was found at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday on a power transmission route on a ridge three-quarters of a mile from his home, said Mark Latti, spokesman for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Corriveau was cold and hungry but he was able to walk to an ambulance, which took him to a hospital to be examined, Latti said.
Corriveau had been last seen at 7:30 a.m. Monday, and search teams worked through the night to find him using aircraft, dog teams, wardens, deputies, police officers and volunteers.
He was happy to see his rescuers, Latti said. “He appeared to be fairly alert, oriented and happy,” the spokesman said.
