DEXTER – A performance by Dot and the Hasbeens, a Millinocket-area singing group, will help mark Dexter’s bicentennial activities at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the United Methodist Church on Lower Main Street.
The group sings songs that were well-known in the early 1900s when vaudeville, skimmer hats and the Charleston were popular. The 20-member group, which includes pianist Dot Kelly, was formed 12 years ago. All members are retired.
The group performs at nursing homes, variety shows, Christmas parties, parades, class reunions, anniversaries and business functions.
Prior to the performance, there will be a chicken pie supper served at the church at 5 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children.
Any group interested in scheduling an event for the yearlong bicentennial celebration may contact the Abbott Memorial Library at 924-7292.
