BANGOR – An Old Town man convicted last winter of assaulting his girlfriend was sentenced Wednesday to four years and nine months in prison.
Barry Bard, 36, was acquitted last December of a rape charge, but convicted by a jury of criminal threatening and assault for the April 16 attack.
During the attack, he repeatedly punched and kicked the 40-year-old victim.
Bard, has a lengthy criminal record, and already is serving a jail sentence for various driving offenses.
The four-year, nine-month sentence handed down Wednesday by Chief Justice Andrew Mead will be served consecutively.
