WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded long-term loans and grant awards totaling $2,065,000 for water system improvement projects in Livermore Falls and Eustis, according to members of Maine’s congressional delegation.

The Livermore Falls Water District will receive a guaranteed loan for $1,050,000 and a grant for $950,000 to fund a major rehabilitation and upgrade to the district’s overall water distribution system. Reservoir capacity will be increased for fire protection and aging lines will be upgraded.

The town of Eustis will receive a $65,000 grant to add a backup well, replace a lift pump and install new water meters. The existing pump house will be expanded to allow for necessary aeration equipment and new piping.

U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Rep. John Baldacci announced funding.
