Absent any evidence of any problem, the governor, the Department of Education and the Legislature agree that all DOE employees must be fingerprinted for criminal background checks.

Regarding racial profiling:

In the face of extensive anecdotal evidence that racial profiling goes on in Maine police work, the governor, the police forces, and, apparently, the Legislature, agree that it would be too costly an aggravation to collect the data to provide evidence one way or the other.
