HODGDON – Phil Smith pitched a four-hitter while striking out 15 batters and walking none to lead the Van Buren Crusaders to a 9-1 schoolboy baseball win over the Hodgdon Hawks in a battle of unbeatens Saturday.
Stacey Ayotte hit a double and a single to pace Van Buren’s offense. Smith and Zac Cote each singled twice.
Ben Carton and Chris Stewart each doubled while David Stewart hit an RBI single for the Hawks.

At Eastport, five errors and three hits led to 10 unearned runs in the sixth as the Blue Devils exploded for a big comeback win over the Shead Tigers.
Calais also erupted for nine runs, seven of them unearned, in the fourth on three errors and five hits. Doug Adams led Calais’ hit parade with a double, three singles, and four runs. Andy Frost and Scott Lynch each hit two singles. Frost scored four times.
Cliff Urquhart had a triple and two singles for the Tigers. Darrin Constant and Ryan Moore each singled twice while Constant added three RBIs.

Machias, Woodland split
At Machias Friday, Marlon Lutz hit a grand slam in the second and added a double and a single to lead the Woodland Dragons to a 12-9 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Machias. The Bulldogs took the opener 7-2.
In the first game, Jeff Copp smacked two doubles and drove in a run to lead Machias. Matt Cobb and Jarad Day each hit an RBI double. Todd Stevens doubled, singled, and drove in a run. Erik Millay hit two singles. Jeremy Gillespie led Woodland with an RBI double.
In the second game, Billy Romanelli drove in four runs on two singles. Josh Engroft doubled, singled and had an RBI for the Dragons. Kevin Loughlin paced the Bulldogs with a solo homer and a single. Will Hasselman hit two singles and added an RBI. Stevens doubled and singled, and Day added an RBI.

At Presque Isle, Bangor and Presque Isle split wins in a doubleheader, Bangor winning 5-1 and Presque Isle rolling 13-1.
In game one, pitcher Joe Vanidestine pitched a two-hit complete game for the Rams. Justin Libbey doubled and singled twice for two RBIs and both Jim Shea and Josh Johnston nailed three singles.
Josh Gale led the Wildcat attack with two singles.
In game two, Shane Clark notched a home run, a double, and a single with four RBIs for the Wildcats while Jonas Bard doubled three times and pitcher Marcus Nadeau pitched a four-hitter.
Libbey doubled and Shea singled for the Rams.

In game one, Adam Sheehan ripped three singles with an RBI for the Golden Bucks while Abram Allard and Kyle Mercer each notched two singles.
Travis Snell and Travis Beaulieu each doubled and singled for the Vikings.

Bucksport sweeps Caribou
At Caribou, Bucksport belted 32 hits in two games as they rolled over Caribou, 15-6 and 23-0.
In game one, Elissa Gordon and Ashley McAllian each nailed a home run and a single with two RBIs while pitcher Kelly White pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts for Bucksport.
Megan Cole-Karagory led the Vikings with a double and three singles with an RBI while Ashley Monahan ripped a two-run home run.
In game two, Jana Richards nailed a home run and three singles with five RBIs for the Golden Bucks as Ashley McAllian tripled and singled three times with three RBIs.

Bangor sweeps Presque Isle
At Presque Isle, Bangor shut down Presque Isle’s offense, allowing only three hits in two games to sweep the Wildcats in a doubleheader on Saturday.
In the first game, Jen Jimmo had seven strikeouts and no walks, giving up only one hit. She also hit a two-run homer to lead the Rams to the win.
Megan Huckins also had a two-run home run for Bangor.
Marigan Bishop had a single for Presque Isle.
In the second game, Shelby Soohey pitched a two-hitter and struck out three while hitting a double and a single for Bangor.
Huckins had two singles and a triple while Kerri Tuck had a single and a double.
For Presque Isle, Lauren Wildeman and Sarah Belden each had singles.
