Tigers outslug Central Dexter burns Red Devils with 16-run 2nd inning

DEXTER – Cindi Koscielny led Dexter with two doubles, a triple and a single for eight RBIs as the host Tigers outlasted Central of Corinth 29-23 in softball action Saturday.

Ashley Foster hit two singles and a double for three RBIs while Ashley Foster drove in three with four singles. Frankie Bohm also had three RBIs.

Shawna Bell had three singles and four RBIs for Central while Jody Watkins had four singles.

Bucksport sweeps Caribou

At Caribou, Bucksport belted 32 hits in two games as they rolled over Caribou, 15-6 and 23-0.

In game one, Elissa Gordon and Ashley McAllian each nailed a home run and a single with two RBIs while pitcher Kelly White pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts for Bucksport.

Megan Cole-Karagory led the Vikings with a double and three singles with an RBI while Ashley Monahan ripped a two-run home run.

In game two, Jana Richards nailed a home run and three singles with five RBIs for the Golden Bucks as Ashley McAllian tripled and singled three times with three RBIs.

Ashley Monahan, Liz Andrews, and Melissa Brissette each ripped a single for the Vikins.

Bangor sweeps Presque Isle

At Presque Isle, Bangor shut down Presque Isle’s offense, allowing only three hits in two games to sweep the Wildcats in a doubleheader on Saturday.

In the first game, Jen Jimmo had seven strikeouts and no walks, giving up only one hit. She also hit a two-run homer to lead the Rams to the win.

Megan Huckins also had a two-run home run for Bangor.

Marigan Bishop had a single for Presque Isle.

In the second game, Shelby Soohey pitched a two-hitter and struck out three while hitting a double and a single for Bangor.

Huckins had two singles and a triple while Kerri Tuck had a single and a double.

For Presque Isle, Lauren Wildeman and Sarah Belden each had singles.

At Hermon, Karen Macdonald drove in the winning run for Hermon in the seventh with a double. She also struck out seven and walked only one.

Stefanie Poole had two singles for two RBIs for the winners.

For Nokomis, Laura Pelkey hit a three-run single and Laura Frey had a three-run triple and an RBI single.

At Brewer, Katie Freeman hit a single in the bottom of the ninth which sent home Sandra DeFilipp for the winning run.

DeFilipp had two singles and an RBI for Brewer while Amy Freeman had three singles. Sherri Capponi hit a triple and a double while Jenny Higgins and Caitlin Coutts each had two singles. Carolyn McAvoy helped out with a two-run single.

For Old Town, Erica Perry had a two-run triple while Emily Ouellette hit two singles for an RBI. Jessica Paul and Meghan King both had two singles.

At Orono, Liz Barker led Mount Desert Island over Orono with a complete game with seven strikeouts.

Alicia Boisvert singled three times for the Trojans and Jamie Daugherty ripped two singles with an RBI.

Hadley See nailed two singles for the Red Riots and Hilary See singled with an RBI.

At Howland, Jordan Legassey and Jessica Jandreau each had a double and two singles to pace Stearns of Millinocket.

Kristina McKenzie had three singles while Leslie Osborne and Casey Popp each added two for the Minutemen of Millinocket.

Meagan Cyr hit four singles for Penobscot Valley of Howland and Kylie McGinn drove in a run with a double and a single. Erika Coyle hit a two-run single and Sarah Colbath singled twice.

Highview, Washburn split

At Kenduskeag, Washburn picked up its second win of the season with a 15-2 decision in the first game and Highview Christian Academy notched its first with a 27-2 verdict in the second game.

In the first game, back-to-back home runs by Chris Tupper (two-run) and Jay Maynard jump-started a five-run inning and the Beavers never looked back.

In the second game, eighth grader Cameron Smith belted a three-run shot in the fourth to fuel the second of four straight big innings offensively.

Rams, Wildcats split twinbill

At Presque Isle, Bangor and Presque Isle split wins in a doubleheader, Bangor winning 5-1 and Presque Isle rolling 13-1.

In game one, pitcher Joe Vanidestine pitched a two-hit complete game for the Rams. Justin Libbey doubled and singled twice for two RBIs and both Jim Shea and Josh Johnston nailed three singles.

Josh Gale led the Wildcat attack with two singles.

In game two, Shane Clark notched a home run, a double, and a single with four RBIs for the Wildcats while Jonas Bard doubled three times and pitcher Marcus Nadeau pitched a four-hitter.

Libbey doubled and Shea singled for the Rams.

Bucks take two from Vikings

At Caribou, Bucksport swept Caribou in a doubleheader, 11-2 and 3-2.

In game one, Adam Sheehan ripped three singles with an RBI for the Golden Bucks while Abram Allard and Kyle Mercer each notched two singles.

Travis Snell and Travis Beaulieu each doubled and singled for the Vikings.

In game two, Warren Chase, Jason Harvey, Allard, and Marcus Boober each belted singles for Bucksport.

Bryce McCrossin singled twice for the Vikings while Nicholas Chasse nailed a solo home run.

Josh Bolton doubled and singled as Evan Haskell nailed two singles for the Mariners.

Ben Sereyko singled three times with an RBI for the Howlers while Marshall Wakefield ripped two singles with an RBI and Trey Miller notched a two RBI double.

Dave Micaud singled for the Minutemen of Millinocket.

At Orono, Bo Thomas notched a home run, a double, and a single with an RBI to lead Orono to a win over Mount Desert Island.

Mike Merritt, Derek Sinclair, and Mike Violette each singled twice for the Red Riots.

Correction: A Monday sports story should have included Jody Harvey as the second Central of Corinth pitcher and Brittany Veazie as hitting four singles for Dexter.
