NEWBURGH ? The Windover Arts Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people expand their ideas and horizons through the arts, is conducting its first juried filmmaking competition for teen-agers.

Designed to recognize creative teens, the contest will support production of a 10- to 15-minute original video, which will debut in a public screening in the fall of 2001. This includes use of filming and editing equipment and technical training under the guidance of professionals.

The contest is open to teens ages 13 to 18 who are attending schools in SAD 3, 22, 34, 56, 53 and 48, or who are home-schooled in the listed districts. June is the deadline for a synopsis, including story line, time frames, settings and ideas for set creation, list of characters and one act or scene from the screenplay.
