KENDUSKEAG – Highview Christian Academy rolled to a 27-2 schoolboy baseball win in the second game to earn a twinbill split Monday against Washburn.

In the second game, eighth-grader Cameron Smith belted a three-run shot in the fourth inning to fuel the second of four straight big innings for Highview of Charleston.

Washburn picked up its second win of the season with a 15-2 decision in the first game.

In the first game, back-to-back home runs by Chris Tupper (two-run) and Jay Maynard jump-started a five-run inning and the Beavers never looked back.

At Rockland, the Tigers scored six runs in the six inning to slip pace the Huskies of Pittsfield.

Greg Harjula poked a double and three singles and Jake LaBrie singled twice with two RBIs for Rockland.

Tom Twombley and Andrew St. Clair singled twice each for Maine Central Institute. Jake Laselle hit a three-run homer.

At Dexter, Matt Corbin smacked a grand slam, a triple and two singles to help the Pandas edge the Tigers.

Dan Fields led Dexter with two singles and two RBIs, Adam Russell singled twice and stole six bases and Ross Morrison had a single and three RBIs.

At Corinth, Seth Strout, Casey Seymour and James Gray combined on a three-hitter.

Strout led the Central offense with a triple, a double, a single and three RBIs. Gray doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Andy Matulis added a triple and two RBIs and Billy Kane hit a solo home run.

Chuck Wooten paced Penquis of Milo with a triple, a single and an RBI.

Peter Moro notched three singles for Camden Hills and Brian Fitzpatrick recorded two.

Brad Wheaton tossed a two-hitter for Stearns, striking out 12 without walking a batter. Wheaton also doubled and singled.

John Crocker limited the Minutemen to three hits. Fred Pete doubled for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

At Howland, Jeremy Hallett’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Keith Champion with what proved to be the winning run as the Howlers edged the Patriots.

Corey Jeskey doubled, singled and had two RBIs, Matt Conley had a double and a single and Ben Sobey had two singles and two runs batted in for Bangor Christian.

At Rockland, Kirby Gushee’s two-out, two-run double in the Tigers’ four-run sixth inning gave them control of their game with the Huskies.

At East Sullivan, senior Jill Osier tossed her second abbreviated no-hitter in four days to propel the Tigers past Deer Isle-Stonington

Osier struck out nine and walked four in a game shortened to 41/2 innings by the 12-run rule. She also pitched a five-inning no-hitter against Stearns on Friday.

Meghan Ruhlin singled twice and drove in two runs for the Tigers. Rachel Philio and Osier contributed two singles apiece.

Bangor Christian sweeps PVHS

At Howland, Kara Hartman allowed only three hits while striking out 10 to spark the Patriots to a 17-4 victory over Penobscot Valley en route to a doubleheader sweep. BC won the second game 15-3.

Lisa Phinney singled twice, doubled and drove in three runs for BC in the first game. Danielle Miller chipped in with three singles and two RBIs, Renee Mick doubled and singled and Gabby Eastman had three singles.

Meagan Cyr had a two-run single for PVHS and Krystal Levesque added an RBI single.

Kendil Snow and Andrea Sage each notched three singles for BC in the second game. Miller and Mick each chipped in with a double and single.

Cyr tripled, singled and drove in three runs for PVHS, Levesque singled twice and Sharon Drost doubled and singled.

Jenny Grant reached Woodward for a fifth-inning single. Tracy Guptill, who allowed only four hits and didn’t walk a batter, was the hard-luck loser.
