ERLANGER, Ky. – Comair could go out of business if striking pilots reject a government proposal to end the walkout, management said Wednesday.

“That’s how serious this is,” company spokeswoman Meghan Glynn said. “If they reject the proposal, the consequences to the airline are frankly catastrophic.”

The National Mediation Board’s proposal for ending the strike that began March 26 is being presented to Comair’s 1,350 pilots this week. The Air Line Pilots Association plans to announce results of the vote late Saturday, one day before Comair is scheduled to lay off 2,000 of its 4,000 nonstriking employees.
