White fans 12 in Bucksport win

BUCKSPORT – Kelly White spun a four-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one, as Bucksport earned an 8-1 victory over George Stevens Academy Wednesday in high school softball action.

Jessica Taylor led the Golden Bucks’ offense with a triple and two singles while Jana Richards and Annette Caswell contributed two singles and two RBIs apiece. White had two singles.

Jamie Wood singled twice and knocked in a run for the Eagles of Blue Hill.

At East Millinocket, righty Lynn Farrington tossed a two-hitter, fanning 17 batters and walking three as the Wolverines picked up the win.

Rebecca Stratton also hit two singles for Schenck. Alicia Cram put out an RBI single. Farrington singled twice.

Megan Russell struck out nine and walked two for the Patriots of Milo. Lindsay Ouellette and Lillian Gerrish each singled.

At Belfast, Beth Angel hit a two-run single to center with two outs in the eighth and scored what proved to be the winning run by advancing to second on the throw and scoring on a relay throwing error.

Angel’s unbeaten Erskine Academy Eagles of South China survived a late rally as Megan Crandall hit a two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth, but was stranded on a pinch-hit flyout to end the game.

Katie Mainville struck out nine and walked one for the Eagles.

The Lions were led by Crandall (triple, single) and Ashley Bryant (two singles).

At Guilford, the Vikings took advantage of six walks in the fourth inning to score eight runs in the win.

Tara Lee Webster drove in three runs on a double and a single, and struck out six. Gillian Hall singled twice and added two RBIs.

Stephanie Wentworth knocked in two runs for the Pirates on a double and two singles. Lacey Hanscom tallied two RBIs on a double and a single.

At Hermon, the Hawks outhit the Ponies 22-7 en route to the win.

Taren Macdonald struck out seven and walked three for Hermon. Erin Lucey drove in two runs on three singles. Tonya Laughlin hit a double, three singles and added an RBI. Kelly Schaap and Kristen Hart each singled twice and had two RBIs.

Melissa Michaud led Foxcroft with two singles, a double and two RBIs.

At Howland, Krystal Levesque and Erika Coyle each drove in four runs to power Penobscot Valley past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Levesque had a double and two singles and Coyle had a double and a single. Sharon Drost chipped in two singles and three RBIs and Meagan Cyr had a pair of base hits and two RBIs.

Keegan McDonnell and Lacy Greenlaw had two singles each for Deer Isle-Stonington.

At Bangor, the Cougars of Sherman Station built up a 9-3 lead after 61/2 innings and withstood a furious rally in the bottom of the seventh to post the win.

Bangor Christian scored five runs and still had the bases loaded with nobody out in the seventh before three straight fly balls ended the threat.

Lacey Willette doubled and singled twice for the Cougars while Michalene Duffy lashed a two-run double and a single. Morgan Melanson singled twice.

Gabby Eastman stroked three singles and drove in two runs for the Patriots. Lisa Phinney added two doubles and two RBIs.

At Guilford, Buddy Leavitt knocked in two runs on a single and a double to lead the Pirates to victory.

Brian White put out two RBI singles for Piscataquis. Randy Burgess hit a pair of singles.

Spencer Garton drove in the Vikings lone run on a sacrifice fly.

At Belfast, Steve Johnson slammed a three-run homer to end the game due to the 10-run rule as the Lions won their seventh game.

Devin Potvin had two singles and three RBIs for the winners. Matt Olson hit a single, a double, and knocked in a run.

Zeb Potter knocked two singles for the Eagles of South China.

At Camden, Ben Muniz knocked in three runs on a single and a double as the Black Bears of Readfield prevailed.

Greg Creek hit two RBI singles for the winners.

Tom and Will Dennen each hit an RBI single for the ‘Jammers.

At Howland, Justin Boyce knocked in six runs with a double and four singles, including a two-run-double in the decisive six-run second inning, as Deer Isle-Stonington triumphed.

Evan Haskell scattered four hits to pick up the win, striking out seven and walking four.

Bennett Gray had two doubles and a single and an RBI for the Mariners, Daryl Dunham had three singles, Eric Ray doubled and singled and Jeff Douglass had a pair of base hits.

Keith Champion doubled and singled for Penobscot Valley and Jeremy Hallett had two singles and two RBIs.

At Newcastle, Adam Ross (3-1) pitched a one-hitter while notching six strikeouts and three walks for the Rockland Tigers.

Greg Harjula belted a two-run homer in the fifth, doubled, and singled for three total RBIs. Shane Dow also paced Rockland with a solo homer in the third, a double, a single, and three RBIs.

Ross’ bid for a no-hitter was broken up by a sixth-inning single.

At Millinocket, run-scoring singles by Jason Cummings and Brad Cyr keyed a three-run third inning that snapped a 3-3 tie and gave Stearns the lead for good.

Winning pitcher Nick Beaulieu and Brad Wheaton each had a double and single and two RBIs and Greg Kranich contributed a double and single and an RBI. Cyr and Matt Barnett had two base hits apiece.

Seth Strout doubled and singled and drove in a run for Central and Mike Strout belted a two-run homer.

At Lee, Matt Corbin smacked a two-run triple in the fourth to provide the game-winning runs in the Pandas’ victory.

Bruce Stevens singled three times and drove in a run for Lee. Rob Noonan, Andy Ham and Franklin Grant combined on a two-hitter.

Rick Russell and Marlon Lutz each hit an RBI single for the Dragons.
