Ouellette single paces Penquis win

MILO – Lindsay Ouellette singled home Megan Russell, who had walked, with no outs in the seventh inning Thursday, lifting Penquis to a 12-11 softball victory over Central of Corinth.

Ouellette had another RBI single for Penquis behind winner Russell, who had two singles and two RBIs. Jean Hamlin provided two bunt singles and two sacrifice flies, while Lil Gerrish had a two-run double and a sac fly.

Shawna Bell doubled and singled and Steph Partridge doubled for the Red Devils.

At Kenduskeag, Danny Kelly had a grand slam in a 12-run first inning as Houlton Christian rolled past Highview Christian.

Staci Bell had four singles for Houlton Christian.

Lauren Plourde had three singles, Natasha Hussey had a double and a single and Nick Richards singled twice for Highview Christian of Charleston.

At Lincoln, the Lynx scored nine runs in the second inning en route to a win over the Pirates.

Kylie Allen had a double, two singles and three runs batted in, Brandi Rideout singled twice and drove in three runs, while Desirae Haines, Nicole Leighton and Cassie Carver had two singles apiece for Mattanawcook.

Caterina Riitano doubled for Piscataquis of Guilford.

At Jackman, Diane Aucoin had two doubles and a single and Darcy Larsen scattered eight hits as Greenville upended Forest Hills.

Jessie Craft had two doubles for the Lakers and Amber Lavigne had three singles.

Jess Brady homered and singled for Forest Hills of Jackman. Lindsay Keiper singled three times and Kim Levesque singled twice.

At Mount Desert, sophomore Bracey Barker fired a two-hit shutout, striking out 10 and walking three, as Mount Desert Island won its fourth straight.

Emma Pope-Welch’s two-run single highlighted a four-run second inning for the Trojans. Alisha Boisvert had two singles for MDI.

Ashley Monahan had a one-out single in the fourth and Jamie Landeen followed with a double for Caribou’s only hits.

At Husson College in Bangor, Kelly White hit two singles and knocked in three runs to help the Golden Bucks prevail.

Annette Caswell also had two hits, a double and a single for Bucksport. Jana Richards knocked two singles.

Laura Roach’s RBI double paced the Crusaders.

At Hampden, Jamie Wells scattered six hits while striking out six and not walking a batter to spark the Broncos.

Emmy Russell paced the offense for the winners with three singles and two RBIs. Shannon Pitula chipped in with a two-run double and Kristina Spaulding singled twice and drove in a run.

Hiedi Chan singled twice and had an RBI for Ellsworth.

At Sherman Station, Lacey Willette’s two-run homer in the fourth boosted the Cougars to their second win over the Patriots in two days.

Angie Qualey led off the second inning with a home run for Katahdin. Michaelene Duffy doubled and singled to aid her in a four-hit pitching effort. Scarlet McAvoy singled twice.

Meredith Moores, Danielle Miller, Alicia Wiswell and Nicole Pelletier each singled for Bangor Christian. Renee Mick struck out seven and walked two in the loss.

At Lincoln, Buddy Leavitt scattered four hits through five innings as the Pirates beat the Lynx.

Brian White doubled and singled for Piscataquis of Guilford while Ben Smith, Randy Burgess, Drake Martell and John Luellen had two singles apiece.

J.J. Murchison singled twice for Mattanawcook Academy.

At Milo, Mike Strout drove in five runs with a homer, double and two singles to power Central’s win.

Billy Kane had a triple and three singles and knocked in four runs; Lowell Oyster had three singles and two RBIs; Joe Allen doubled and singled and Seth Strout (2 RBIs) had two base hits as did Rob Girvan (RBI).

Anders Hamlin had two singles and two RBIs for Penquis and Jason Stubbs had a triple and an RBI.

At Kenduskeag, Ben Sobey and Steve Putnam combined on a five-inning one-hitter to pace the Patriots past the Knights.

Nick Harriman doubled and singled for Bangor Christian, with Dave Chrisos, Chad Ossinger and Sobey stroking two singles each.

Anthony Kneeland singled for Highview Christian Academy.

Evan Thomas singled twice and drove in a run for Hampden.

At Husson College in Bangor, Jason Harvey knocked in two runs with two doubles and a single to power the Golden Bucks to victory.

Marcus Boober tripled and singled with three RBIs and Kyle Mercer singled twice behind winner Dan Nason.

Andy Tremble doubled and singled (2 RBIs) for John Bapst. Zach Means also doubled and singled.

At Van Buren, righty Phil Smith (3-0) hurled a three-hitter, striking out 18 and walking none as the Crusaders won their fourth game in four days, staying undefeated.

Smith, who has pitched 20 innings so far this year, has allowed only 2 walks while striking out 50. The only run Madawaska scored off him Thursday was on a passed ball.

For the Crusaders, Stacy Ayotte hit a two-run single while Sean Violette smacked an RBI single.

At Danforth, Jeff Swallow struck out 11 and walked one, and then smacked a three-run homer in the top of the seventh to propel the Warriors to the win.

Nick Hersey hit a double, two singles and drove in a run for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook. Swallow also singled.

Jim Zugelder let the Vikings with a double, single and an RBI. Darius Parker doubled.

At Hodgdon, Evan Bither belted a two-run homer, a two-run double and a single to pace Hodgdon to its eighth win in nine games.

His double and RBI singles by Ben Carton and Matt Day all came with two outs in a six-run fourth-inning rally that erased a 3-2 deficit.

Day had two singles and three RBIs while Chris Stewart and Chris Blanchette (RBI) contributed two singles apiece.
