GORHAM – Jody Curcuru hit a two-run single in the sixth to lift the University of Southern Maine over Eastern Connecticut State 6-3 and into the championship round of the Little East Conference baseball tournament Friday.
Ryan Adams scattered six singles in 7 2/3 innings of work to earn the win for USM.
Pat Toomey and Adam Lemieux each smacked an RBI double for Southern Maine. The Huskies will face ECSU Saturday and USM needs one win to clinch the conference title and an NCAA berth.
John Kubachka, Dwight Wildman and Justin Waz each singled and drove in a run for the Warriors.

At Lakewood, N.J., starting pitcher Allison Maddock (18-3) made a first-inning unearned run stand up as Holy Family College of Philadelphia edged Saint Joseph’s in the second round of the NAIA Region 10 series playoffs Friday.
St. Joe’s is 1-1 in the tourney.
After the first two batters were retired, Sarah Lyons got things going with a single. Rayann Maddock singled her to second and Lyons then stole third before scoring on an error by the catcher.
Melissa Zebley and Lyons each had two singles for Holy Family. Maddock pitched a four-hitter while striking out six and walking two.
Searsport’s Sarah Webster pitched a six-hitter, struck out one and walked none to move to 14-7 on the season. Sue Picard and Kristen Gaudette each doubled to lead the Monks’ offense.
