HERMON – Andy Shaw of Center Conway, N.H., won the first 50-lap Partnership for Tobacco Free Maine pro stock event at Speedway 95 Sunday.

Shaw took the lead for good on lap 43 when Scott Chubbuck of Wiscasset spun in turn one while fighting Shaw for the lead.

Chubbuck’s spin brought out the fourth caution of the event and set up a seven-lap sprint for the finish. On the restart, Shaw lined up with Adam Friend of Pittsfield and as they fought for the lead, Friend was forced high, allowing pole-sitter Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs to take over the second spot.

Friend finished third while Aaron St. Peter of Brewer took fourth and Scott Modery of Stetson fifth.

The race was the first of five 50-lap pro stock events sponsored by the Partnership for Tobacco Free Maine, all of which count toward an overall series championship. The next event is May 27 at 2 p.m.
