Stearns High School, Millinocket MILLINOCKET – Paul MacDonald, principal of Stearns High School, has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2001. Graduation exercises will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Wentworth Gymnasium at the high school.
Adam James Harvey, son of James and Betsy Harvey of Millinocket, is valedictorian. He plans to attend Colby College in the fall to study history and prepare for a law career. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years, was named a National Merit English Scholar for two years and was winner of the Williams College Book Award in his junior year. He was a delegate to Dirigo Boys State and is recognized in the 34th edition of “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” He is winner of the Maine State Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence and Citizenship and has been listed consistently on the honor roll.
Harvey also has been active in Stearns performing arts and took part in the fall musical for four years, earning leading roles in three. He also has taken part in show choir for four years, the spring play for three years and jazz choir for his senior year. He has been employed at a local grocery store for three years.
Stephen S. Rolfe, son of Brian and Elizabeth Rolfe, is salutatorian. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years and took part in the student council, attended Dirigo Boys State, and received the Maine Scholars Achievement Award. He is vice president of the Spanish Club and played varsity ice hockey for four years. He was hockey co-captain in his senior year. He plans to attend the University of Rhode Island to study pharmacy.
