Wisdom High School, St. Agatha

ST. AGATHA – Principal Lester Michaud of Wisdom High School has announced the honor parts for graduation exercises to be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Wisdom High School gymnasium.

Valedictorian is Kelly L. Cyr, daughter of Conrad and Louise Cyr of St. Agatha. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has served as its president and secretary; the Athletic Club, as president for the last two years; the National Vocational-Technical Honor Society; the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America; class president for four years; prom committee and band. She has won letters in basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball and has appeared on all-star rosters in soccer, basketball and softball. She was chosen for the McDonald’s Senior All-Star and All-State Academic teams. She attended the National Association of Teen Institutes Conference in 1999, the National Ocean Science Bowl in 2000 and 2001, the VICA Health Knowledge Bowl in 2000, the Consider Engineering Camp at the University of Maine, and Christian Leadership Institute. Community activities include the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp where she served on the staff, program committee, advisory board, student staff selection committee, Camp Big Sister and Camp Co-Director, the last two years. She is active in the Youth Ministry program of her church. She served St. Agatha Parish as an altar server and Eucharistic minister and has helped with Special Olympics, benefit suppers and other local fund-raisers. She will attend St. Joseph’s College for preprofessional studies and optometry.

Salutatorian is Julie Sirois, daughter of Paul and Tessie Sirois of St. Agatha. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National Ocean Science Bowl and was named a Maine Scholar in her junior year. She has served on the Aroostook Teen Leadership weekend team and the Aroostook Youth Advisory Board during freshman and sophomore years. She played softball her first two years. She has helped with the Special Olympics program, been an office aide, and helped in student-peer interaction with handicapped students. She plans to attend the University of Maine to study mass communication and advertising.

Honor essay will be given by Craig R. Michaud, son of Kenneth and Jeannine Michaud of Frenchville. He is a member of the National Honor Society where he was treasurer, Athletic Club as vice president, in student government, Youth Ministry, Boy Scouts of America, took part in the U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Scientific Seminar and has been active in basketball four years. He played in the band as a freshman and sophomore and helped in Special Olympics, food drives and visiting local nursing homes. He plans to study engineering at the University of Maine.
