Morse fuels Nokomis victory

NEWPORT – Pat Morse smacked a two-run triple, and also combined with Shawn Henderson to scatter five hits to power Nokomis to a 9-5 high school baseball win over Orono Tuesday.

Henderson chipped in with three singles and drove in two runs for Nokomis. Brian Hawthorne and Jon Blair each singled twice and had an RBI. Justin Veazie hit two singles and Brannen Gee doubled and drove in a run.

Ryan Levesque paced the Red Riots with a triple, a single and an RBI. Al Glossian hit an RBI single.

At Belfast, Seth Emery and Rob Cloutier each hit a two-run homer and a single, leading Maranacook the win.

Ben Muniz had a solo home run and a double for the Black Bears of Readfield.

For Belfast, Kevin Herbig hit a double and a single for an RBI.

At Corinth, James Gray and Casey Seymour combined to pitch a four-hit, one-run game, leading Central to the win over Bangor Christian.

Seth Strout drove in two on two singles and a double while Gray had two singles for an RBI. Rob Girvan contributed a two-run triple.

For Bangor Christian, Nick Hammond had two singles and an RBI.

At Belfast, Alexis Pullen led Maranacook with a triple and two singles.

Jasmine Carey hit a solo home run and a single while Jess Bickford added two singles. Jill Pruett contributed a triple.

Ashley Bryant hit a double and a single for Belfast.

At Newport, Danielle Clark and Michelle Murray hit two-run singles in a six-run second inning that snapped a 3-3 tie.

Kaycea Grignon had a triple and four singles and drove in three runs for Nokomis; Lindsey Welch had a triple and three singles and also knocked in three runs.

Murray had four RBIs on her double and two singles and Megan Randlett contributed a double, three singles and two RBIs.

Delanie Farnham picked up the win.

Molly Dupere had an RBI single for Orono.

At Corinth, the Red Devils rallied for seven runs in the seventh to beat the Patriots.

Shawna Bell and Renee Trafton each slammed two-run doubles to highlight the rally and Amy Shaw chipped in with an RBI single. Bell came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch.

Jen Allen, Jody Harvey and Terri Underhill each notched two singles for the winners.

Danielle Miller tripled, singled and drove in a run for the Patriots. Lisa Phinney and Alyssa Wiswell each chipped in with two singles.
