Camden trades rallies with Winslow, wins

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills Windjammers staged a three-run rally in the sixth and then withstood a two-run Winslow rally in the seventh for their second straight win, a 9-8 decision over Winslow in baseball action Wednesday.

After Grady Peck reached on a fielder’s choice with one out, stole second, and scored on Gabe Gates’ single to break a 6-6 tie, Tom Dennen delivered the hit of the game with a pinch-hit, two-run, 350-foot home run to left center on a 1-1 fastball.

For Camden, Abe Dugal had two singles and an RBI, Will Dennen singled twice for two RBIs, and Brady Butler had an RBI double.

Chris Langlais led the Black Raiders with two doubles and two RBIs. Wes Zemrak had two doubles and an RBI, Chris McCabe had two singles and two RBIs, and Chris McInnis had a double, single, and an RBI.

John Bapst sweeps Presque Isle

At Brewer, Jesse McCree hit an infield single to score Brian Snyder from third base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and lift the Crusaders to a 4-3 win in the first game of a doubleheader. The Crusaders won the second game 6-4.

In the first game, Zev Myerowitz tossed a four-hitter with two walks and one strikeout. Josh Gale took the loss for Presque Isle despite allowing four hits, walking two and striking out five.

In the second game, John Bapst’s James Strout smacked a two-run inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the sixth. He also singled. Myerowitz doubled and singled, and Tyler Jellison hit two singles. Joe Gahagan paced the Wildcats with three singles. Aaron Keirstead and Fred Bird added two singles apiece.

At Dexter, Drake Martell held the Tigers to just three hits over five innings, striking out four and walking none, in a game shortened by the 10-run rule.

Buddy Leavitt drove in four runs with a double and a single for Piscataquis Community of Guilford while Ben Smith drove in two on a double and two singles. Randy Burgess and Brian White rapped two singles apiece.

Eric Cooley doubled and Ross Morrison added an RBI single for Dexter.

Greenville sweeps Rangeley

At Greenville, Tyler Muzzy hurled a 13-strikeout three-hitter in the first game and Tom Mason followed with a eight-strikeout five-hitter of his own as Greenville posted 5-0 and 4-2 wins over Rangeley.

In the first game, Muzzy walked just three and recorded all 13 of his strikeouts over the game’s final five innings. He struck out the final eight batters to end the game. Griz Aucoin doubled in a run and Frank Bushey had an RBI single. Charles Dam hit two singles for Rangeley.

In the second game, Muzzy singled, stole four bases and scored two runs for Greenville. Aucoin added an RBI single. Vic Schrader doubled and singled for Rangeley.

At Thorndike, Ryan Harnden delivered the game-tying run on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh and the Mustangs won when a runner scored on a subsequent passed ball.

Kenton Spaulding added two singles for the Mustangs while Brian Bernosky doubled and Keith Fuller had an RBI single.

Brian Drinkwater singled twice and Rick Bagnall doubled.

George Stevens 18, Penquis 2

At Milo, Simeon Allen hit a two-run triple and singled to help lead the George Stevens Academy Eagles of Blue Hill past Penquis.

Sophomore pitcher Josh Gott pitched a one-hitter for the Eagles and got plenty of offensive support. Ryan Hutchins hit a two-run single, Chris Candage had an RBI double, and Chris Sargent added an RBI single.

Steve Kissell’s single was the lone hit for the Patriots.

At Bangor, Ben Sereyko led a 19-hit attack with a three-run home run and a triple as the Penobscot Valley Howlers of Howland stopped the Patriots.

Keith Champion had a double, two singles and two RBIs for the Howlers. Stu Morin hit a sol o homer and Brandon Saucier had a triple, two singles, and three RBIs.

Nick Harriman had a double and two singles for the Patriots. Dave Chrisos had three singles; Matt Conley two singles and three RBIs; Tyler Wilson a triple, single, and two RBIs; and D.J. McCleary added two singles.

At Hampden, Joel Barrett and Adam Freeman each belted 2-run homers to lead the Witches to their eighth win.

Presque Isle, John Bapst split

At Coffin Field in Brewer, John Bapst scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game to post a 5-4 win but Presque Isle answered with an 18-11 win in the second game.

In the first game, Rebecca Stevens singled and doubled to pace the Crusaders’ attack. Lauren Wildeman doubled and drove in three runs for Presque Isle. Sarah Belden hit an RBI triple.

In the second game, Wildeman singled twice and drove in four runs, Belden doubled and singled twice and collected two RBIs and Sarah Geaghan doubled, singled and knocked in three more. Stevens singled and tripled and Nikki Novak singled and doubled for John Bapst of Bangor.

Greenville sweeps Rangeley

At Greenville, Diane Aucoin ripped a solo homer and three singles in the first game and collected two more singles in the second to lead Greenville to 20-8 and 22-12 wins.

In the first game, Amber Lavigne added three singles while Kelly Bolen and Laura Blair had two singles apiece for Greenville. Lindsay Ellis and Alicia Frost rapped two singles apiece for Rangeley.

In the second game, Sarah Gardner stroked three singles and Bolen added two more for Greenville. Ellis and Frost led Rangeley with two more singles each.

At Dexter, Alice White-Cyr hit a triple, two singles, and knocked in three runs as the Pirates of Guilford prevailed.

Stephanie Wentworth and Megan Galuski each had an RBI single for the winners. Caterina Riitano also had an RBI single.

Briley Belanger led the Tigers with an RBI triple. Kristy Veazie put out an RBI double.

At Searsport, Tara Lee Webster struck out 12 batters and pitched a four-hitter to help lead the Vikings to victory.

For Searsport, Lura Carroll had a double, single and three RBIs. Webster also hit a two-run single.

Jill Osier paced Sumner with an RBI single.

At Howland, Kari Vance came within one out of her 10th no-hitter of the season while striking out 10 and walking three to lead the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln past Penobscot Valley.

Brandi Rideout had two doubles and two singles to pace MA’s offense. Laci Whitney had three singles while Carly Masur and Desirae Haines each singled twice.

Meagan Cyr’s two-out single in the fifth broke the no-hit bid.

Jessica Day was 3-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base for the Wolverines.

At Bangor, The Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings en route to a win over the Indians.

Megan Huckins tripled, singled and drove in four runs for Bangor while Amanda Johnson had a double and a single.

Jessica Paul doubled twice and Meghan King had two singles for Old Town.
