WALDOBORO – New England 800 Co., founded in 1983 as Maine’s first customer-service call center, has changed its corporate name to Taction, according to President and Founder Steve White.
The company employs about 200 year-round and seasonal employees, provides a wide range of specialized, 24-hour customer contact services for well-known companies such as Chanel, Samsonite, McGraw-Hill, Atkins Nutritionals Inc., Lighthouse International and Harbor Sweets.
The name change to Taction reflects the company’s focus on leading edge technology and its transformation from a call center into a customer contact center offering the latest interactive, Web-based services. Its clients include leading retailers, e-commerce sites and catalog firms.
“Taction by definition means touch and contact, and it better characterizes the services we provide – the power and comfort of human contact,” White said.
