ORONO – U.S. Reps. John Baldacci and Tom Allen will participate in an environmental town meeting on Monday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 100 Neville Hall at the University of Maine.

Topics expected to be covered include arsenic levels in drinking water, air pollution from industrial smokestacks, oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and mercury concerns.

Joining the congressmen will be Dr. Paul Lebow of Maine Physicians for Social Responsibility; Jim Brooks, Maine Department of Environmental Protection director of air quality; Dr. Andy Smith, state toxicologist; and Steve Kahl of the Sen. George Mitchell Center for Environmental and Watershed Research.
