2 face drug charges in Dover-Foxcroft Arrests made after police search of home

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Two residents were arrested Friday after mushroom-laced marijuana was uncovered at their Route 16 home during a search by police.

Arrested and charged were Larry Nickerson, 52, and Kim Andrews, 43. Nickerson was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of scheduled X drugs (mushrooms), and unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs (marijuana). He previously was convicted on a drug-trafficking charge.

Andrews was charged with terrorizing, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs (marijuana), unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (marijuana), and unlawful possession of scheduled W drugs (morphine).

The pair was released from jail Friday after Nickerson posted $2,000 cash bail and Andrews posted $1,000 cash bail. They will make their initial court appearance on the charges July 9 in 13th District Court.

Investigator Alan Emerson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said about a pound of dried marijuana that had been combined with a “fair” amount of chopped mushrooms were found during the search. Drug paraphernalia and three firearms also were seized from the home.

Emerson said samples of the mushrooms will be tested to determine their type.

Nickerson was arrested at the residence without incident after the search. Emerson said that when Andrews, who was not home at the time, learned later about the search she came to the sheriff’s department, “threw a fit” and then left. Investigator Guy Dow arrested her later at the couple’s home.

The charge of terrorizing stemmed from alleged threats Andrews made to family members and to Piscataquis County Probate Judge Douglas Smith, Emerson said. He alleged that during telephone calls to family members and to the judge, Andrews threatened to kill a family member and threatened to “take the judge down.” Further charges against Andrews are pending, he said.

The search was part of an ongoing investigation by the sheriff’s department. Deputies were assisted by Dover-Foxcroft police.
