Patient Moore gets ACT win at Oxford 17-year-old driver takes lead late in race

OXFORD – Ryan Moore of Scarborough utilized a patient game plan, took the lead on lap 65, and cruised to a comfortable win in the American-Canadian Tour’s New England Dodge Dealers 100 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday.

Moore, a second-generation driver and the son of top Maine racer Kelly Moore, topped another second-generation driver – Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., for the win. Dragon is the son of Harmon “Beaver” Dragon.

Jamie Fisher of Shelburne, Vt., took third in the race while Dwayne Lamphere of Morrisville, Vt., was fourth and Ricky Rolfe of Albany was fifth.

Prescott tops at Winterport

At Winterport Dragway, Mike Prescott of Bucksport took the checkered flag at Winterport Dragway Sunday afternoon in the featured money race. Runnerup was Dan Emerson from Bangor.

Morgan surges at Beech Ridge

At Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Jeff Morgan of Biddeford held off his challengers in a four-lap dash to the checkers en route to a win in the NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Pro Series 40-lap feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Jay Sands of Seabrook, N.H. wasn’t able to overtake Morgan after a late caution flag bunched the cars up for a final restart, but he was able to hang on to second place.

Ron Smith of Biddeford wound up third, Steve Berry Jr. of Gorham was fourth and Mike Field of Buxton took fifth.
