Bangor shuts out Brewer

BANGOR – Shelby Soohey pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out two without issuing a walk, to propel the Bangor Rams to a 7-0 schoolgirl softball victory over archrival Brewer.

Kerri Tuck drove in two runs on a double and a single while Jen Jimmo hit two singles and Megan Huckins nailed a two-run triple.

For Brewer, Emily McLaughlin had a double and a single.

Bucksport 5, Hampden 1

At Bucksport, senior Annette Caswell pitched a perfect game for 6? innings before settling for a two-hitter, leading the Class B Golden Bucks past the Class A Broncos.

Caswell struck out seven and did not walk a batter. She also stroked an RBI single.

Heather Pelletier singled twice for Bucksport and Jana Richards hit a run-scoring single.

Jamie Wells broke up the perfect game bid with a double for Hampden and Emily Russell singled.

At Ellsworth, Hiedi Chan hit an RBI single and scored two runs to carry Ellsworth to victory.

Tara Dyer singled twice, while Katie Sirois (2 RBIs) and Sarah Silsby singled.

Alisha Boisvert led Mount Desert Island with two singles. Jaime Daugherty followed up with a single.

Bangor Christian 8, Searsport 1

At Bangor, Kara Hartman held Searsport to only four hits, striking out 12 Vikings.

Danielle Miller led Bangor Christian with a two-RBI double in the sixth. Andrea Sage (1 RBI) and Renee Mick recorded two singles each.

Lura Carroll doubled in Searsport’s only run. Lindsay Seekins, Chelsea Herrick and Megan Porter followed up with a single each.

So. Aroostook, Schenck split

At Dyer Brook, Schenck split a doubleheader with Southern Aroostook, defeating the Warriors 13-6 and losing the second game 19-14.

In the first game, Dyana Gallant led Schenck of East Millinocket with three singles and three RBIs while Rebecca Stratton pounded out four singles.

Shannon Hersey had a double and two singles for the Warriors while Rhonda Chambers hit a two-run double.

In the second game, Chambers had a double and two singles while Kristi Brooker had two doubles and a single for three RBIs for Southern Aroostook.

Michelle Boutilier contributed three singles good for two RBIs.

For Schenck, Lindsey Swazey, Brook Austin and Gallant each had two singles.

At Bangor Wednesday night, Carrie Moors’ RBI single in the fourth inning provided the Pandas with the only run they would need in their win over the Blue Devils.

Kristin Hersom had two singles and a run batted in and Danielle Jipson drove in a run with a single for Lee Academy.

Katie Frost and Lanna Martin had two singles each for Calais.

At Ellsworth, Bodie Albert led Mount Desert Island with two singles and an RBI.

Brandon Colbeth hit a two-run triple and Basil Mahaney doubled.

Derek Awalt had a double and a single for Ellsworth while Aaron Kelly tripled. Justin Gott stroked an RBI single.

At Bucksport, the Golden Bucks erupted for five runs in the fifth inning en route to a win over the Broncos.

Warren Chase had a double and a single and scored two runs, Chris McHale doubled and singled and drove in a run and Marcus Boober had two singles and an RBI for Bucksport. Chris McHale scattered six hits.

Matt Paine and Andrew Williams had a double and a run batted in each for the Broncos.

At Howland, Fred Pete led Mattanawcook past Penobscot Valley with two doubles.

Matt Malone doubled and singled while Mike Springer and Andy McLellan singled for the Lynx of Lincoln.

Keith Champion led Penobscot Valley with a single and a double.

At Bangor, Allen Easley hit a two-run homer, a double, a single, and had the winning RBI, leading Bangor Christian to the win.

Nick Harriman had a two-run double while Ryan Smith added two singles.

Matt Mercier had two doubles and a single for Searsport while Ben Relyea hit a solo home run and a single. Jerod Kronholm helped out with a double and a single.

At Bangor Wednesday, Scott MacDonald pitched a two-run game with eight strikeouts and no walks, leading Calais to the win.

James MacDonald hit a two-run triple in the seventh to put the Blue Devils in the lead for good while Joe Footer also nailed a two-run triple.

For Lee, Matt Corbin had a double while Jeremy Ham added an RBI single.

Highview Christian splits

At Hinckley, John Andrews knocked in three runs with a triple and two singles as Highview Christian of Charleston won the second game 15-2 to split the doubleheader. Averill won the opener 11-9.

In the second game, Anthony Kneeland doubled and singled twice (2 RBIs), while Devan Philbrick (2 RBIs) and David Day singled three times each to back winner Nick Waite.

Joe Gallagher had a two-run double for Averill.

In Game 1, David Arnold had three singles and an RBI to pace Averill. Andrew Kronolis, Ray Shultz and Gerard Levesque added two singles apiece.

Ben Allen rapped a triple, a double and three singles with two RBIs to lead Highview Christian. Waite singled four times and Andrews hit a triple and two singles (1 RBI).
