Limestone Community School

LIMESTONE – Paul Beaulieu, principal of Limestone Community School, has announced the top five graduating seniors for the Class of 2001.

Valedictorian Adrianna Garcia, daughter of Adalberto and Rosalinda Garcia of Limestone, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Civil Rights Team and the Student Council.

She plays in the Limestone Community School Band and in the band at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She participates with the Math Team and Upward Bound. She has volunteered her time at the St. Mary O’Donnel Shelter, Special Olympics, and participated in the Limestone Community School blood drive.

She plans to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the fall and major in psychology.

Salutatorian Sara Bernier, daughter of Chanel and Joan Bernier of Caswell, serves as French Club president, L-Club secretary and Student Council treasurer. She is a member of the Math Team, Civil Rights Team, chorus, Service Club and yearbook staff.

She has participated in varsity and junior varsity basketball, junior varsity tennis, varsity soccer, varsity softball, volleyball, baton and pompoms. She received the Most Improved Player Award on the varsity soccer team.

Her community activities include altar server, lector and volunteer for the St. Joseph Card Party, Borderline All-Terrain Vehicle Club, Rotary Club, science lab aide, writing lab aide, and she was a student aide at Dawn F. Barns Elementary School.

She received the State Scholars award from the University of Maine, is listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and is a member of the National Honor Roll.

She plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington and major in history in the fall.

The third ranked honor student, Alexis Michele Crook, is the daughter of Kristine Delaney and Jason Crook. Michele is a Student Council representative and secretary and co-editor of the yearbook. She is secretary of the National Honor Society, vice president of the L-Club, and a member of the chorus, Civil Rights Team, French Club, Service Club, and is president of the class.

She has played varsity softball and soccer, junior varsity basketball, intramural volleyball, and is a varsity cheerleader.

She will attend the University of Southern Maine in Portland, with a major in international studies.

Tracy Lynn Taggett, the fourth ranked honor student, is the daughter of Cyrus and Terry Taggett. She has participated in cheerleading for three years, drama for one year, FFA for one year, HOSA and Project Graduation for one year.

She plans to attend Northern Maine Technical College in Presque Isle and major in nursing.

Tracy Lee Land, the fifth ranked honor student, is the daughter of Larry and Gladys Land. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the L-Club, the Student Council, the Service Club, the French Club, the Civil Rights Team and FAA. She has participated in Upward Bound for three years and has been on the honor roll all four years. She also served as the manager of the tennis team.

Tracy plans to attend the University of West Florida and major in criminal justice.
