BOSTON – H.P. Hood Inc. has recalled containers of “Light Chocolate Cookie Dough” ice cream because it contains almonds that are not listed as an ingredient.
Hood spokeswoman Lynne Seeley said the ice cream was being recalled because of concern that consumers could suffer allergic reactions to the almonds.
One case of an allergic reaction to the ice cream has been reported, she said.
The recall announced Friday only applies to half-gallon containers of the ice cream with a code of 04/24/02 on the side flap. No other Hood products are affected.
The affected containers were sold in grocery stores in New England and upstate New York. Buyers can return the ice cream to the stores for a refund.
Consumers can call Hood at (800) 242-2423 with questions.
