Ellsworth High School
ELLSWORTH – Principal Martha Witham has announced the honor parts for the 2001 graduating class at Ellsworth High School. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the high school.
Rebecca Lock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lock of Ellsworth, has been named valedictorian, and salutatorian is Rachel Decker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Decker of Hancock.
Lock is president of the National Honor Society, a recipient of the Rensselaer Medal Award and the Maine Scholars Achievement Award. She is a member of the Student Council, the Key Club, the math team, the track team and the varsity soccer team. She was selected to attend the Young Writer’s Symposium at Haystack. She plans to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall.
Decker is a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Club, the U-Turn Bible Study and was a Girls State delegate nominee. She is active in the community, volunteering at the local hospital, on her church worship team and in her church youth group. She plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono this fall.
First honor essayist is Kathleen Sirois, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sirois of Ellsworth. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the band, treasurer of the Student Council, and has been active in soccer, basketball and softball. She will attend St. Joseph’s College this fall.
