FORT FAIRFIELD – An 8-year-old Forest Avenue boy was in a Bangor hospital Monday night with injuries he suffered earlier in the day in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Matthew Campbell was driving the ATV in his yard with a friend shortly after noon when the machine apparently went over a bump, briefly went off the ground at an odd angle and rolled over, according to Warden Allen Dudley.

The boy was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of an unspecified head injury. His condition was not known at press time.

Jordan Burrows, 10, who was on the ATV with Campbell, suffered only minor injuries. He was treated at The Aroostook Medical Center and released, Dudley said.

Neither boy was wearing a helmet, the warden said.

The ATV, a 2000 model Honda, had minor damage.

Correction: The name of a boy injured Monday in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Fort Fairfield was spelled incorrectly. The correct spelling is Jordan Buhro.
