Maine Guides to meet in The Forks, Bingham

THE FORKS – Registered Maine Guides will gather for the third annual guide education conference June 10-12 at Northern Outdoors in The Forks and at the Maine Outdoor Center in Bingham.

The seminar will focus on cultural and natural history, communication skills and conservation issues in Maine, with talks by “Anyplace Wild” TV host Annie Getchell, Penobscot Nation Gov. Barry Dana, and Maine Guide and Land Use Regulation Commission Chairman Steve Wight.

The conference includes topics to increase the level of professionalism and expertise among Maine Guides, such as risk management, guide-client communication, storytelling, land protection in the North Woods, and river conservation.

Sponsors include the Headwaters Institute, Maine Outdoor Center, Northern Outdoors, Hurricane Island Outward Bound, Maine Rivers, Skowhegan Regional Vocational Center, and the Natural Resources Council of Maine.
