Philio settles down; Tigers tip Schenck

EAST MILLINOCKET – Sumner’s Rachel Philio settled down after surrendering six runs in the first two innings, holding Schenck to only one run the rest of the way as the No. 14 Tigers of East Sullivan won 9-7 in an Eastern Maine Class C preliminary softball matchup.

Tracy Bickford posted a triple, single, and RBI for Sumner. Elizabeth Young smacked a triple, and Alyssa Robinson added two singles.

Lynn Farrington went the distance for No. 11 Schenck, striking out nine and walking four. Errors hurt the Wolverines in the fourth, as the Tigers plated six runs. Farrington didn’t allow a run the rest of the way.

Diana Gallant and Angela Sherwood rapped two singles each. Jessica Day pounded a triple.
