Mount Desert Island Regional High School

Principal Robert Liebow has announced honor parts for commencement at Mount Desert Island Regional High School. Graduation will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, in the Bernard Parady Gymnasium. Valedictorian Craig Johnson, son of Daniel and Cynthia Johnson of Somesville, is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Leadership, was captain of the cross-country and track teams while holding the lead in the school musical “Pippin!” and enjoyed singing with Impromptu!, an a cappella group. Johnson played lead trombone with the state championship jazz band Darth Vader and participated in the All-State Band for three years. He plans to study English at Middlebury College in Vermont.

Salutatorian Jessica Rose Sattler, daughter of Robert and Robin Sattler of Southwest Harbor, was a member of the National Honor Society, National Thespian Society and Student Leadership. Student director of the costume department at MDIHS Theatre, she also plays the violin and is a swing dancer. She was active with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and in Island Connections, a volunteer organization, and was a peer tutor in the resource room. She will attend Colby College in the fall, completing her first semester in London.
