More and more lately I am noticing children in vehicles who are not being buckled in. They are bouncing around in the front seat, obviously loose.
Just yesterday, I saw a little girl about 3 years old nearly go through the windshield when the adult driving the car had to brake suddenly. This didn’t seem to phase the driver as she went upon her merry way. It is inconceivable that people are oblivious to the dangers of not utilizing seat belts for children.
Therefore I must come to my own conclusions: These people are either too lazy to take the time to fasten the seat belt or they don’t care about the safety of their child. Either way, it’s unforgivable. Accidents happen all too frequently, and I personally don’t want to be in a situation where an accident occurs, a child dies and I must live with it for the rest of my life – all because someone was too lazy to buckle up their child.
Working in the social services field, I am mandated by law to report child abuse, neglect and endangerment. More than that, I am a parent. Be aware that if I see your child unbuckled, I will confront you, and I will report you. Not only because I have to, but because your child has a right to be safe.
