BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles put shortstop Mike Bordick on the 15-day disabled list Thursday and released veteran catcher Greg Myers to make room for infielder Brian Roberts, who was called up from Triple-A Rochester.

The Orioles also recalled right-hander Leslie Brea from Rochester. Brea was obtained by Baltimore last season in the July 28 trade that sent Bordick to the New York Mets.

Bordick, who re-signed with the Orioles during the offseason, separated his right shoulder Wednesday night in a game against the Mets. The Winterport native and former University of Maine player landed on the shoulder after colliding with runner Lenny Harris in a play at second base.

He could be sidelined for up to six weeks, but spoke optimistically about returning in half that time.

“I’ve been taken out at second base a lot in my career,” Bordick said. “Unfortunately, I just landed wrong. In three weeks, hopefully it will have calmed down a little bit.”

Bordick is hitting .249 with seven homers – tied with Chris Richard for the team lead – and 30 RBIs.

He will be replaced at shortstop by Roberts, who never played above the Class A level before this season. Roberts was set to make his major league debut Thursday night against the Mets as the No. 2 batter in the lineup.
