LOUDON, N.H. – Eric Bostrom won the Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike race Monday at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Bostrom, of Las Vegas, finished the 62-mile race on the 1.6-mile course with an average speed of 81 mph and an average lap time of 1:11. The Kawasaki rider had entered the Motorcyclist Association’s race second in the standings, with a second-place finish and two fourth-place finishes.

Mathew Mladin of Australia, who was among the favorites going into the race, finished second on his Suzuki. A two-time U.S. Superbike champion, he won at the New Hampshire speedway last year and 1997.

Aaron Yates, of Milledgeville, Ga., finished third. Nicky Hayden of Ownesboro, Ky., was fourth, and Jamie Hacking of Greer, S.C., was fifth.

In the remaining races of the 78th Loudon Classic, Jim Flice won the 24-lap MBNA 250 Grand Prix with an average speed of 78 mph.

Rounding out the top five were Charles Sorensen of Sunnyvale, Calif.; Jeff Wood of Mansfield, Mass.; Michael Hannis of Lafayette, Calif.; and Perrx Melneciuc of Lehigh Acres, Fla.

In the 10-lap Jimmy Adamo Memorial, Jerry Wood of Stockton Springs, Maine, finished first with a time of 13:08.945.

Rick Doucette of Haverill, Mass., finished second, followed by Brent Campbell of Amesbury, Mass.

In the Buell Pro Thunder, Eric Wood of Mansfield, Mass., was the winner, followed by Mike Ciccotto of Sebastian, Fla.; Thomas Montano of Berkely, Calif.; Dean Mizdal of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Robert Nigl of Derry, N.H.

Wood’s average speed was 76.9 mph, with an average lap time of 1:14.
