Friendly’s recalls brand of ice cream

WILBRAHAM, Mass. – Friendly’s Ice Cream Corp. is recalling its half-gallon packages of mint chocolate chip ice cream because they may contain pistachio ice cream. The pistachio ice cream may contain small pieces of pistachio nuts that could cause an allergic reaction in some people.

WILBRAHAM, Mass. – Friendly’s Ice Cream Corp. is recalling its half-gallon packages of mint chocolate chip ice cream because they may contain pistachio ice cream.

The pistachio ice cream may contain small pieces of pistachio nuts that could cause an allergic reaction in some people. No allergic reactions have been reported.

The ice cream was distributed to supermarkets, convenience stores, and Friendly’s restaurants in all New England states, all mid-Atlantic states, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The half-gallon containers are marked with an expiration date of April 27, 2002, on the side of the package as either “27Apr02” or “Apr2702” or “25-26 WC5 020427.”

Consumers may return the ice cream to the place of purchase for a full refund. They also may contact the company at (800) 723-1591.
