GREENVILLE – Because of a misunderstanding, the Union 60 School Committee on Thursday voted to increase the salary of the new executive secretary starting July 1 to $29,000 a year.
Roxanne Chase of Dover-Foxcroft, who was hired this year for the job, said Superintendent William Folsom had offered her a salary of $29,000 when she was selected for the job. But she was receiving $27,000.
The salary for the job had been advertised from $22,000 to $29,000-plus, according to Folsom, who admitted the misunderstanding.
The committee agreed to pay the $29,000 in the new contract year from July 1, 2001, through June 30.
The Greenville School Committee, which met after the Union 60 board meeting, re-elected Richard Gould as chairman of the board and elected Roxanne Holmbom as vice chairman.
The committee approved the operation of a summer program funded by leftover 21st Century Grant funds and hired Cory Smith as assistant principal and special education director.
