Seven Maine golfers will be in the field competing at the Women’s New England Golf Association Championship at the Walpole Country Club in Walpole, Mass., beginning this morning and running through Thursday.

Leading the Maine contingent is 20-year-old Abbie Spector of Waterville. Spector has won the Women’s Maine State Golf Association championship the last five years in a row. Alyssa Hayes of Cape Elizabeth, last year’s WMSGA runner up, and Sharon Preece of Waterville are joined by junior players Emily Allen of Turner, Megan Saco of Portland, Nicole Fillion of Cumberland Center and Marja Hatfield of Winthrop.
