HOLDEN – A 15-year-old boy was taken to a Bangor hospital Wednesday afternoon for evaluation after a brief incident at a therapeutic group home on Church Road.

According to Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Hastings, county and state police were called to Harrington House, a group home operated by OHI for troubled adolescents, after staff there called for assistance in dealing with a teen-ager who reportedly had a baseball bat.

Staff at the home, however, subdued the youth by the time police arrived.

“Nothing really happened. They got [the bat] back from him,” Hastings said. “They did a good job handling the situation. They’re experienced in crisis management.”

Hastings said no one was injured and no threats were made during the incident, though there was some minor damage to the home’s interior and the mailbox outside.

The teen-ager’s name was withheld because he is a minor.
