WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded a $75,000 Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant to the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, which is based in Auburn, according to U.S. Rep. John Baldacci.

The funding, which is being made available through the department’s Economic Development Administration, will allow Maine’s Economic Development Districts to better coordinate efforts to lessen the economic impact of natural disasters.

Economic Development Districts coordinate with county emergency management agencies in order to disseminate pertinent disaster response information. The grant is funded under the EDA’s Economic Adjustment Program.
