I felt that sense of family and warmth while on assignment covering the community musical “Islands” last month.

Without a place to stay on the island, I wasn’t sure how to cover a night performance when the last ferry would leave the island before the beginning of the show. I called North Haven resident and “Islands” actress Lisa Shields for some ideas. Within moments I was a guest in her home. The generosity and warmth shown me by the folks on North Haven made that assignment one to remember.

These images are the first of an occasional series called “OutTakes.” They are, more or less, the photographs that end up on the proverbial ‘cutting room floor’ but are too good not to share. We want our readers to enjoy them if simply just for photography’s sake.
