Burleigh propels Millinocket to win

MILLINOCKET – Jordan Burleigh smacked a two-run homer in the sixth and earned the complete-game pitching win as Millinocket posted a 7-3 win over Bangor West in a Little League baseball 11- and 12-year-olds All-Star tournament game Monday.

Nick Cyr added two singles, and Jeff Osborne and Travis Deabay hit a single each.

Kyle Vanidestine led Bangor West with two singles, and Gordon Webb notched an RBI single.

At Orono, Troy Jellison, Max Winter, Travis Davis and Jordan Dudley combined to record 10 strikeouts to hold Orrington to only one hit.

Brian Henigan hit two doubles and two singles, Tyler King notched four singles, Jellison hit a solo home run and a single, Davis and Winter had a triple and a single apiece, Seth Dwyer hit a double and a single, and Colin Bates hit two singles for Orono/Veazie.

Chris Pike recorded Orrington’s sole hit with a single in the third.

At Glenburn, Brad Brown led Glenburn-Levant with two singles, a triple and a double.

Jonathon Gagnon followed up with a double and two singles. Reid McLaughlin notched an RBI single, and Ben Strout singled.

Travis Estes led Hermon with two singles, Phil Richardson notched a triple, and Brent Dority and Cody Hills hit a single apiece.

Bangor West 33, Hermon 3

At Bangor, Bangor West erupted for 19 runs in the third inning en route to the win on Saturday.

Danielle Wright smacked a home run, a double and two singles for Bangor West while Courtney Stevenson had a grand slam, and Kristin Parker collected three triples. Jamie Parkhurst added a triple and three singles.

Patrice Bryant, Ashley Kelley, Christine Reynolds, Emily Corey and Alicia Pelkey had a single each for Hermon.

Old Town 31, Holbrook 1

At Old Town, Katie Bergeron didn’t allow a hit while striking out four and walking five as Old Town eliminated Holbrook.

Amanda Heath cranked a grand slam and singled for the winners. Lauren Cates chipped in with a solo home run and a two-run double.

At the Bangor High School field, Maureen Capehart and Amy Hackett each cranked a two-run home run to power Bangor East’s victory.

Hackett, the winning pitcher with a two-hitter over four innings, further helped her cause with a single and double. Emily Heath chipped in with two singles and a triple, Taylor Lauritsen notched a two-run triple, and single and Capehart singled.

Tanna Jellison singled twice for Orono-Veazie.
