Parent company’s woes won’t affect local buses

PORTLAND – A company that runs school buses in about 15 Maine school districts says its operations will not be affected by the bankruptcy of its parent company. Laidlaw Transit has about 130 employees in Maine and operates about 120 buses in the state.

Parent company Laidlaw Inc. filed for bankruptcy reorganization last week in Buffalo, New York. The company is based in Canada but does 90 percent of its business in the U.S.
