HOULTON – The Maine State Troopers Foundation recently awarded Aroostook County Crime Stoppers a sum of $1,000 toward their Community Awareness Program.

The purpose of the project is to increase public awareness of the Crime Stoppers program and improve public transportation in the program to increase its effectiveness.

Many people are not aware of the program, or the fact that they can call in information on the anonymous tips line at 1-800-638-8477 on any crime they are aware of, not just a recent event.

The Maine State Troopers Foundation funds will allow Crime Stoppers to increase public awareness and participation in their efforts to fight crime in the region.
