BANGOR – The Telford Group, a Bangor-based provider of aircraft maintenance and repair services, announced Thursday that Northrop Grumman Corp. awarded it a subcontract to prepare a DeHavilland Dash 7 aircraft for the Department of Defense.

The four-propeller military plane will hold a crew of approximately nine. Telford Group President Bob Ziegelaar said the $3 million subcontract “underscores our company’s ability to compete at a national level.” He credited U.S. Rep. John Baldacci for helping the company land the agreement.

Further Defense Department dealings could lead to Telford’s expansion. In addition to Bangor, the company currently runs a facility in Rockland and intends to open a site in Limestone.
